Grand County, Colorado

Read Grand County Menu Guide eBook

Grand County, Colorado lies about 90 miles north-west of Denver, Colorado. Accessed via Interstate 70 and US Hwy 40 from the south and east, US Hwy 40 from the west, and US Hwy 34 from the north, and Trail Ridge Road through Rocky Mountain National Park (open June-October, weather permitting). Grand County boasts eight towns, each with its own unique feel and multi-seasonal activities. The majority of the towns in Grand County utilize US Hwy 40 as the main street through town, except Grand Lake which is just off US Hwy 34.

Winter Park is the southernmost town in Grand County. Best known for its popular ski resort – Winter Park Resort. The town of Winter Park actually lies about miles miles north of the entrance to Winter Park Resort. You’ll find plenty of dining and lodging options in both the town of Winter Park and in The Village at Winter Park Resort.

Fraser is only a few miles north of Winter Park and they share a stoplight on US Hwy 40. Several dining and lodging options are available. The main street has a distillery, winery, wine bar, and brewery – all within walking distance of each other. Tabernash is about four miles north of Fraser, and about nine miles east of Granby. Tabernash has a quaint downtown area on US Hwy 40, where a long-standing restaurant Tabernash Tavern is located. Pole Creek Golf Course is a 27-hole golf course, with the popular restaurant, Bistro 28 in its clubhouse. At the top of what locals refer to as “Red Dirt Hill,” just before descending into Granby, you’ll find Snow Mountain Ranch / YMCA of the Rockies. Unlike any urban YMCA you’ve ever experienced, this “Y” has 5000+ acres of land to recreate on and enjoy, with activities for every season.

Granby is roughly the central point in the county. It lies between Fraser/Tabernash and Hot Sulphur Springs on US Hwy 40, about 15 miles north of Winter Park. Granby is home to many shops, restaurants, coffee shops and even a brewery.
